Dr. Zack Ashkenazie was born in New York. His path to oral surgery began after being exposed to the work done on mission trips around the world that provided life-changing care to children with cleft lip and palate. These experiences showed him the profound impact surgical care can have on someone’s life.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo, Dr. Ashkenazie continued his education at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where he had the privilege of having his work published in global journals. He went on to pursue additional training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at New York Medical College and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, where he had the privilege of serving as Chief Resident.
As a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Ashkenazie has trained extensively in surgical extractions, bone grafting, dental implants, IV sedation, facial trauma, and complex reconstructive cases, even spending significant portions of his training operating alongside plastic surgeons.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized with numerous honors, including the AAOMS Dental Student Award, Maryland OMS Student Award, Gamma Pi Delta Honors, Gorgas Odontological Honors, and the Osteo Science Clinical Observership Award. What Dr. Ashkenazie enjoys most is the people — collaborating with general dentists, front desk
staff, assistants, and, of course, his patients to provide the best care possible.
Outside the operatory, Dr. Ashkenazie is an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying basketball, football, and lacrosse — and yes, he was even the captain of his high school varsity bowling team.
Weekends are often spent trying new recipes or hiking with his wife and dog.
